Words From The Cross: "3. Why?"

"About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'"  (Matthew 27:46)

We all ask questions.

The church's view of questions:

One of our most common questions is why.

	The answer is usually:  "Because you are part of the human family."
	The answer for Jesus is:  "Because you represent the entire human family."

Two Truths:

	1. God hates sin.  He loves the sinner, but that is irrelevant!
	2. Jesus took our sins.  All sins, all people!

Are we going to embrace sin or God!

Words From The Cross: "2. Heaven."

"Today you will be with me in paradise."  (Luke 23:43)

Little is actually known about heaven.

What we can glean from this brief conversation:

	1. Heaven is a ________ place.

"Later, knowing that all was now completed , and so that the scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, 'I am thirsty'"  (John 19:30).

Three common thirsts:

I.  Resources

Acts 8:20 "May your money perish with you because you thought you could buy the gift of God."

II.  Recognition

Romans 12:3  "Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought."

III.  Righteousness

Matthew 5:6  "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
